Last month, I praised the commercial vendors for supporting AMUG with their contributions towards our annual fund raiser. We really have some great stuff! This month, I want to praise all of the Shareware, Freeware and Public Domain authors. These authors give so much to the Mac community, and often only ask for a postcard, e-mail, a few bucks, or whatever you think it’s worth.
When you download or otherwise obtain a shareware program, test it out. That is what shareware is for. If, after playing with it for a while, you find yourself using the software, send in whatever shareware fee is requested. The authors almost always have their address readily accessible, and apparently few people ever send them anything! I have seen some incredible stuff out there; let’s support our shareware authors and give them an incentive to keep developing great products!!

Drag Any Window is a very useful utility which does what it says. After installing the control panel and setting up the modifier keys, you can move ANY window. You can move open/save dialogs, print dialogs, windows of programs which won’t let you move them, and anything else you can think of. It comes in very handy! (Look for this one in future Best of Utilities disk.)
FontLibrary is a HyperCard stack which, upon opening, scans your drive for installed fonts, and then makes a card for each font. The nice thing is that if you give the stack to a friend, when he opens the stack, he will be able to see a picture of fonts, even if not installed in his system.
Once a font has been loaded, you can always look at the card, even when the font is no longer loaded. Now comes the fun part. I spent a ton of time loading all of the fonts that AMUG has in its collection.
Now you can use this stack to preview fonts without having them. I will be updating this stack as new fonts come in. Enjoy! (Now available at Best of…)
Shells! 1.02;

This game is the Shareware version of The Shells Game (there is a demo in Mo Stuff- on Telefinder),
a commercial game by BugByte Inc.
The best way to describe this game is that it is similar to Mine games where you click on a grid to find (or avoid) the bombs. Shells, however, is based more on skill than luck. In each game, there are tiles which can be moved to reveal a number. The number tells you how many coins are adjacent to the space. You can then mark your guesses with coins or an X for a bomb. The game has 20 different levels to work through, each with different grid patterns.

Super Textures Vol 1.cpt - Path:Files:Util:Textures
This is Volume 1 in a continuing series of textures to be installed using the Shareware program, Desktop Textures (on the BBS as Desktop TexturesIII.v.2.1 in Util:Textures). The textures included are high quality, artist-created, seamless textures which were made using Photoshop, Kai’s Power Tools and Aldus Gallery Effects. Many of the textures have soft edges with a well matched combination of colors, and are calming. The patterns are unlike any I have seen, they can remain on your desktop without giving you a headache, or playing tricks on your eyes! Currently, we have eight volumes of Super Textures.
